Good dog bad dog

A Native elder once described his own inner struggles in this manner:
“Inside of me there are two dogs. One of the dogs is mean and evil. The other dog is good. The mean dog fights the good dog all the time.”
When asked which dog wins, he reflected for a moment and replied, “The one I feed most.”

We all go through this inner struggle. Our life is a mixture of problems as well as opportunities. We have confusion in some areas and we also have clarity in some other areas. We have friends as well as enemies. We are successful in some areas and we also fail in some other areas. On some days we are excited and some other days we are depressed.

It is upto us to decide which we want to have as permanent. In fact we decide and make that choice on a day to day basis. We may be conscious of that choice or unconscious. That choice depends on our thought process and it all depends on where we focus our mind. If we focus on positive aspects most of our time, they grow and become stronger and neutralize the negative ones. On the other hand, if we concentrate and focus on negative aspects, they grow and neutralize all the positive things we have.

With this explanation, read the above quotation and decide where you want to focus today!
